Other Comments/Explanations:

All horses in Race 9 were subject to Group 1 protocols.

Race 1 KENO CLASSIC HANDICAP - 1700 metres:

Mickey Blue Eyes Knuckled on jumping away.

Black Toff Affair Slow to begin.

Calendar Lad Got its head up and over-raced in the early stages. Passing the 1400m was steadied when racing in restricted room between Arctic Shock which shifted out and So You Swing (D. Lane) which shifted in. Damian Lane was notified to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Starcaster (GB) Rider Jye McNeil stated that in his opinion the gelding would be improved by today's run. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was suffering from the thumps.

Vigere Rider Brett Prebble reported he was instructed to let the gelding run along and not be restrained as it has shown in the past to resent being ridden in that manner.

Race 2 QMS MEDIA PLATE - 1400 metres:

Pretty Brazen Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the track after incurring an abrasion to the offside hip en route.

Ginny Ann Got its head up when over-racing in the early stages.

Splendoronthegrass Raced three wide without cover. Hampered near the 800m by Need New Friends which had shifted out when over-racing across the heels of Charleise. Near the 50m was steadied to avoid the heels of Pretty Brazen (M. Dee) which was laying in. Michael Dee was notified that he would be expected to make a greater attempt to straighten his mount earlier than on this occasion.

Need New Friends Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 800m when over-racing shifted out across the heels of Charleise which resulted in Splendoronthegrass being hampered.

Ready Set Sail At the 300m was disappointed for a run and had to be steadied between Tubby Two Tracks and Stay Gold. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and the filly was lame in the near foreleg. A veterinary certificate is required prior to racing again.

Carmen Sandiego Held up from the 300m, shifting out approaching the 200m to gain clear running.

The track was upgraded to a Good 3 after the running of Race 2.

Race 3 POLYTRACK GOTHIC STAKES - 1400 metres:

The Executioner Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Got its head up when over-racing in the early stages.

Defiant Dancer Rider John Allen lost the use of his right rein for a short distance passing the 200m.

Triton Rising Rider Luke Nolen could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Lord Markel (NZ) Rider Brett Prebble reported the colt was still immature and may be spelled. Trainer Wendy Kelly confirmed that the colt would be spelled. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

Race 4 - LADBROKES CLASSIC 2000 metres:

Power Scheme Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Miroku Raced keenly in the early stages.

Miami Bound (NZ) Near the 1800m got its head up and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Power Scheme. Rider Damien Oliver reported the filly was not suited by the slow early tempo and was disappointing. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Serengeti Rider Rhys McLeod reported the gelding may be better suited on tracks with more give than today's Good 3 and may have come to the end of its preparation. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Race 5 CARLTON DRAUGHT ALINGHI STAKES - 1100 metres:

Soothing Raced three wide without cover. Rider Damian Lane reported after jumping away well he was unable to gain cover and raced further forward than anticipated. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise‑induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horse's racing performance. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Vinicunca Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for a short distance approaching and passing the 100m.

Miss Iano Disappointed for a run near the 150m between Prophet's Thumb and Victory Kingdom which, after initially shifting in, shifted back out.

Race 6 NEW ZEALAND BLOODSTOCK ETHEREAL STAKES - 2000 metres:

Song Brocade Change of tactics: attempt to go forward. Jumped away awkwardly. Settled towards the rear of the field.

Snapdancer Knuckled on jumping away. Got its head up when over-racing in the early and middle stages.

Cape Leopard Slow to begin.

Really Discreet Jumped away awkwardly.

Atame After being wide and over-racing in the early and middle stages was allowed to stride to sit outside the leader near the 1400m.

Contrition (NZ) Raced three wide without cover. Brushed on the hindquarters by Isola Comacina (NZ) near the 900m and as a result became unbalanced. Rider Michael Dee could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Isola Comacina (NZ) Near the 1100m clipped the heels of Snapdancer and almost fell.

Vegas Jewel (NZ) When questioned rider Jordan Childs explained that near the 800m he was pushed to a four‑wide position by Isola Comacina (NZ) which was over-racing and shifted out. He further stated that approaching the 600m he was again taken wider by Isola Comacina (NZ) which again shifted out and rather than expose his mount too early, he elected not to ride his mount along in an attempt to hold that filly in as he was mindful that it was Vegas Jewel's first time over 2000m.

Fiorente's Girl Near the 200m shifted out across the heels of Celestial Falls (NZ) which laid in.

Race 7 McCAFE CAULFIELD SPRINT - 1000 metres:

Crystal Dreamer Jumped away awkwardly and then shortly after slipped behind. Rider Damian Lane reported the gelding got its head up and raced intractably in the straight when attempting a run between Intuition and Badajoz.

McLaren Knuckled on jumping away and almost fell. Rider Craig Williams reported the colt felt uncomfortable in its action but returned to scale feeling normal. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Not Enough Effort Knuckled on jumping away and as a result became unbalanced and lost ground. Raced three wide without cover. Rider Ben Allen reported in his view the gelding would be better suited on tracks with more give than today's Good 3. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Tactical Advantage Jumped away awkwardly.

Race 8 LADBROKES MOONGA STAKES - 1400 metres:

Royal Meeting (IRE) Slow to begin.

Moss 'N' Dale (NZ) Slow to begin.

Streets of Avalon Raced three wide without cover.

Desert Lord Weakened from the 400m. Rider Dwayne Dunn reported the gelding failed to respond when placed under pressure. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Race 9 CAULFIELD CUP - 2400 metres:

Brimham Rocks (GB) Change of tactics: to be ridden more forward. Raced four wide without cover in the early stages.

Mr Quickie Change of tactics: intention to hold a midfield position. As the start was effected became unruly, jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Settled towards the rear of the field. Held up from the 400m until shifting out approaching the 100m to gain clear running.

Hartnell (GB) Held up from the 400m until gaining clear running approaching the 100m.

Mirage Dancer (GB) Slow to begin. Brushed on the hindquarters near the 200m and became unbalanced.

Constantinople (IRE) Slow to begin. Held up from the 400m and near the 300m had to be checked when disappointed for a run between Sound (GER) and Vow and Declare.

Rostropovich (IRE) Caught wide without cover before rider Dwayne Dunn allowed the gelding to stride outside the leader near the 1400m. Checked to avoid heels near the 150m.

Finche (GB) Raced three wide without cover.

Red Verdon Tightened for room near the 200m.

Gold Mount (GB) Approaching the 300m until near the 150m was held up for clear running.

Vow and Declare Steadied near the 1800m when racing tight between Mr Quickie and Rostropovich (IRE). (D. Dunn) which shifted in slightly. Rider Dwayne Dunn was reprimanded. Near the 200m taken in off its course when tightened in onto Sound (GER).

Angel of Truth Checked to avoid heels near the 150m.

Sound (GER) Had to relinquish its position near the 1800m when tightened for room. Severely checked approaching the 200m when tightened for room.

Big Duke (IRE) Was eased out of the race near the 800m. An irregular heart rhythm was detected on post‑race veterinary examination. Big Duke (IRE) shall not start in any race until the Stewards have received a satisfactory veterinary report. The report must include the results of an ECG performed at rest and cardiac auscultation performed within 30 minutes of completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres.

Michael Dee (Brimham Rocks [GB]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the carelessness being that approaching the 1800 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Red Verdon, thereby taking that gelding in, tightening the running of Sound (GER) which had to relinquish its position. Michael Dee had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight 29 October 2019 and to expire midnight 4 November, a total of 7 race meetings (2 metropolitan, 5 provincial) to be served cumulatively with the suspension incurred last night at Pakenham. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his good record, it was a Group 1 race and viewed the carelessness to be in the low range.

Damian Lane (Mer De Glace [JPN]) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the carelessness being that near the 200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Vow and Declare, resulting in Vow and Declare being taken in and tightened onto Sound (GER) and Red Verdon, which resulted in Red Verdon (USA) being hampered and Sound having to be severely checked. Stewards took into account that prior to Mer De Glace shifting in, Red Verdon and Sound had already been racing in restricted room. Damian Lane had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 26 October 2019 and to expire midnight 4 November, a total of 10 race meetings (2 metropolitan, 8 provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea, good record, the circumstances of the incident, the fact it was a Group 1 race and viewed the carelessness to be in the mid-range. Damian Lane was also fined the sum of $20,000.

Beau Mertens (Wolfe [JPN]) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the carelessness being that near the 150m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of Rostropovich (IRE), resulting in that gelding being taken out off its course and then having to be checked to avoid Wolfe (JPN)'s heels. As a result Angel of Truth which was following to the outside of Rostropovich (IRE) which was making ground then had to be checked to avoid the heels of Rostropovich. Beau Mertens had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 19 October 2019 to expire midnight 28 October, a total of 10 race meetings (2 metropolitan, 8 provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea, excellent record, the fact it was a Group 1 race and viewed the carelessness to be in the mid-range.

Race 10 SCHWEPPES TRISTARC STAKES - 1400 metres:

Angelic Ruler Hampered at the start by Pohutukawa which shifted out.

Aristia Held up from the 300m before shifted in to gaining clear running approaching the 100m.

Spanish Whisper Hampered at the start by Pohutukawa which shifted out.

Pohutukawa Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and hampered Spanish Whisper and Angelic Ruler. Held up from the 400m until gaining clear running passing the 200m.

Jamaican Rain Raced three wide without cover.

Naantali (NZ) In the straight laid in.

Sheezdashing Near the 100m was checked when Aristia (D. Lane) shifted in when not sufficiently clear.

Damian Lane (Aristia) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the carelessness being that near the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Sheezdashing, causing that mare having to be checked to avoid the heels of Aristia. Damian Lane had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight 26 October 2019 and to expire at midnight 4 November, a total of 10  race meetings (2 metropolitan, 8 provincial) to be served concurrently with the suspension incurred in the Caulfield Cup. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea, good record, and viewed the carelessness to be in the mid‑range.
