RACE 1:  Newcastle Commercial Properties Class 1 & Maiden Plate 2350m

Poldark – on jumping was crowded for room between Amazing Peace, which jumped awkwardly outwards, and Oakfield Empire, which jumped awkwardly inwards.

Amazing Peace – raced keenly in the early stages.  Raced wide approaching the home turn when improving its position.

Financial – raced wide and without cover until the 1800m.

Never Listen – held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight attempted a narrow run to the inside of Kaldero.  Passing the 300m was checked and became unbalanced when crowded by Kaldero, which shifted in marginally.  As Stewards were mindful that the run which Never Listen was attempting to take was very tight and also the minor nature of the shift from Kaldero, they did not take any direct action against any rider, other than to remind D McLellan to ensure there is sufficient room when attempting to improve.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be 1/5 lame in the off-hind leg.  Trainer Mr J Ramsey was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Never Listen racing again.

RACE 2:  Collaborative Construction Solutions Maiden Plate 900m

Skara Brae – acting on veterinary advice, the mare was a late scratching at 1.51pm when it was found to be lame in the off-hind leg.  The Stewards ruled that all monies invested on Skara Brae be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 1.51pm be subject to the following deductions in the face value of each ticket:

1st Citrouille 0 cents win 6 cents place

2nd Jaytees 6 cents place

Trainer Mr S Jones was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Skara Brae racing again.

I Am Sacred – jumped awkwardly and bumped Aldee.

Time Of The Dragon – laid outwards under pressure in the straight.

Jaytees – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

RACE 3:  Central Finance Management Group Class 2 Handicap 900m

Magnarock – slow to begin.

Can I Rock – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.  Near the 300m laid in.

RACE 4:  Joanne McLean Memorial Newcastle Nobbys – BM70 Handicap 1200m

Lucciola Belle – prior to the declaration of correct weight A Gibbons, rider of third placegetter, requested to view the Stewards’ footage over the final 200m to ascertain there were grounds to protest against the winner Oakfield Twilight.  When A Gibbons was of the opinion that there were insufficient grounds and Stewards agreed, correct weight was declared.

Hand It In – slow to begin.  Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Miss Faith – raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.  Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Oakfield Twilight – hung out under pressure over the final 300m.

D’Oro Rain – near the 30m was steadied off the heels of Oakfield Twilight (A Bullock), which shifted outwards whilst being ridden along.  Lucciola Belle, which was racing to the outside of D’Oro Rain, was inconvenienced and taken outwards slightly.  A Bullock was reprimanded and told that in future he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts when they commence to shift ground.

RACE 5:  Peter Buffier Pancreatic Cancer Research Benchmark 64 Handicap 1200m

Cool World – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Palurien – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Hung in in the home straight.

Pinup Miss – near the 700m steadied off the heels of Eyebea Danser, which was taken inwards by Bombasay, which hung inwards.

Bombasay – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.  Hung inwards throughout the race and was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages.  Stable representative Mr D Greer was advised that a warning would be placed on Bombasay.

Eyebea Danser – when questioned regarding the performance, Jockey G Buckley stated that his mount, which was resuming from a spell, travelled well during the race and approaching the home turn was positioned behind the eventual winner Knickpoint, however, when he asked for an effort in the home straight his mount did not respond and failed to run on over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Game Of Thorns – approaching the winning post was steadied off the heels of Rhyming Puppet (S Guymer), which shifted inwards.  S Guymer was told to exercise more care.  When questioned regarding the performance, rider A Gibbons stated that he wanted to be able to position his mount more forward today, however, Game Of Thorns was unable to keep up with the leading division and in his opinion is looking for further ground.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 6:  Mayfield Ex-Services Club Class 2 Handicap 1400m

Lexi’s Choice – slow to begin.

Calabasas – approaching and rounding the home turn attempted to take a tight run between Hildalgo and Storm Attack when there was insufficient room to do so, resulting in Calabasas and Storm Attack bumping heavily on at least two occasions, causing Storm Attack to become unbalanced.  Jockey S Lisnyy was reprimanded and told to ensure that there is sufficient room when attempting runs in future

Hildalgo – in the home straight laid outwards, obliging its rider App. L Day to stop and straighten her mount near the 100m.

Warset – a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Nothing Too Hard – when questioned regarding the performance, App. S Clenton stated that she was instructed to settle in fourth or fifth position, however, her mount commenced to pull in the back straight due to the slow tempo and as a result Nothing Too Hard raced more forward than anticipated.  She said approaching the home turn her mount did not respond when she asked for an effort and in the home straight failed to finish its race off and was disappointing.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 8:  Impact Building 3YO Maiden Handicap 1200m

Mercury – after being loaded the gelding was fractious in the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was deemed suitable to race.

Light Of Uluru – slow to begin.

Hoystryke – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Originaire – raced keenly in the early stages.

Mesmer – raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Individual Gold – when questioned regarding his vigour over the concluding stages, rider B Spriggs stated the filly, which was having its first start, raced greenly and in the home straight, when he asked for an effort from his mount, Individual Gold continued to race greenly and was reluctant to race between runners, therefore, he elected not to ride the filly out over the concluding stages.  He added that Individual Gold would be more suited to race in blinkers at its next start.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
