RACE 1: Winter Racing Handicap 1000m:
Roman Wolf - For some distance shortly after the start was crowded between Lanigera and Empires Collide which began awkwardly and shifted out. Rider S. Clenton advised her instructions were to be more forward on the colt but after receiving crowding at the start she was obliged to race further back in the field than she had been instructed. She added that as she commenced to improve making the home turn she was obliged to briefly steady her mount when Tejori shifted in and then soon after straightening she commenced a run to the outside of that runner. She further stated that, as she committed to shift to the outside of Catwalk, that runner shifted out which resulted in Roman Wolf having to be steadied and shifted to the outside of Catwalk whereby it secured clear running near the 250m. When questioned as to whether there was an opportunity to improve to the inside making the home turn and in the early part of the straight, S. Clenton advised that her connections had indicated that the outside would be superior going and for this reason she was focused on shifting to the outside. She stated that in retrospect she agreed there was an opportunity to improve to the inside. S. Clenton was advised that it is incumbent upon her to ensure she considers all available options to provide her mount with the opportunity to finish in the best possible placing in the field.
Covert Ops – Slow to begin (2L).
Lanigera – In the early and middle stages raced fiercely and refused to settle. Near the 600m Lanigera was checked to avoid the heels of Yitai Synergy, shifted out and hampered Roman Wolf.
North – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Switched – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.
Yitai Synergy – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Catwalk - Shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. Approaching the 600m was steadied to avoid the heels of Roman Wolf

RACE 2: Bradley Photographers Handicap 1800m:
Itz Lily - Raced wide and without cover from passing the 1200m.
Frenzied – When questioned regarding the gelding settling towards the back of the field, rider J. Parr advised his instructions were to take cover on Frenzied and had anticipated racing in a mid-field position. He said after commencing reasonably well he commenced to comply with his instructions to find cover but in the early stages his mount shifted in away from Think It Over and as a result he was unable to obtain a mid-field position to the outside of Eighteen Carrot. Trainer representative Mr N. Paine confirmed the instructions issued. The matter was adjourned so that co-trainer Mr A. Bott could be interviewed with respect to the instructions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other than to have shifted its off fore plate.
Snippetspeed - Shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier.
Eighteen Carrot – When questioned regarding his riding in the straight G. Schofield stated that after being held up briefly behind Costas between the 300m and 250m he then elected to shift to the outside of Commander to obtain clear running. He added that as he was of the opinion that the going to the inside was inferior this influenced his decision to shift to the outside to secure clear running.
Dundee Lee – Near the 400m was steadied when crowded between Itz Lily and Commander (App. B. McDougall) which shifted out to improve. B. McDougall was advised to exercise more care.
Ritmico – Shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Think It Over – In the early stages was inclined to over race. Near the 150m when commencing to finish the race off well laid in resulting in its rider R. King having to stop riding and straighten her mount.
Watch The Cat – Slow to begin. Rider J. Taylor advised that the gelding, which was having its first start on a heavy track, did not handle the prevailing conditions particularly on the home turn where it blundered on a number of occasions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other than speedy cuts to its near fore cannon.
RACE 3: TAB Highway Class 3 Handicap 1100m:
Another Sin – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Leaving the 600m was hampered when momentarily crowded between Charlotte’s Heart and Booradley which shifted out slightly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Irish Songs – Slow to begin and was then hampered when the near side barrier did not fully open. Laid out in the early part of the straight. Over the concluding stages was hampered when crowded by Mr Wong (J. Innes) which shifted out. J. Innes was reprimanded and advised he must stop riding and straighten his mounts if they are not clear.
Dram Of Delago – Rider J. Parr advised that the filly did not appreciate today’s heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be slow to recover.
Mr Wong – Slow to begin.
Nevada Dane – In the early and middle stages over raced and refused to settle. Rider G. Schofield was fined the sum of $200 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his declared weight (AR211).
Booradley – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
Charlotte’s Heart – After beginning only fairly was then crowded between Dragoneight which began awkwardly and shifted out, and Nevada Dane which shifted in. Plymouth Road – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance rider J. Parr stated that the gelding led comfortably but was unable to quicken when placed under pressure from the 800m and in his opinion may have reached the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M. Smith undertook to report back on the immediate racing plans for Plymouth Road.
Tunero – Shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other than to have lost its off fore plate. Stable representative C. Duckworth undertook to report back on the post-race condition of Tunero.
Subban - As J. Maskiell was delayed arriving on course due to transport difficulties Stewards permitted L. Magorrian to replace him as the rider of the gelding. Was shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier.
California Longbow – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Terwilliker – Despite being ridden along in the early stages was unable to muster any speed and was then shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Taniko – Shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Freehearted – Slow to begin. Near the 800m when racing keenly improved to the inside of Miss Exfactor (App. C. Williams) as that runner commenced to shift in which resulted in Freehearted having to be checked to avoid the heels of Miss Exfactor. C Williams was reprimanded and advised he must ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. In assessing penalty Stewards found that Miss Exfactor was initially clear to cross Freehearted however that runner then improved to the inside of Miss Exfactor.
Call Me Royal – Rider L. Magorrian advised he was instructed to go forward on the filly and endeavour to lead. He added that the filly did not travel comfortably throughout the event and he attributed this to the heavy track conditions which resulted in Call Me Royal then giving ground in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer representative Mr N. Paine concurred with the views of L. Magorrian that the filly had not appreciated the heavy track conditions but in addition said Call Me Royal was not suited by the seven-day backup. Mr Paine undertook to report to the Stewards if anything was amiss with Call Me Royal in the days subsequent.
Levee Bank – Slow to begin.
I Am Queen – In the middle stages raced keenly and at the 600m was checked to avoid the heels of Freehearted. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance rider J. Parr advised that the mare was checked near the 600m when the pace steadied and from this point was unable to regain its momentum and did not finish the race off. He added that in his opinion the interference it received at the 600m was the principal reason for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be slow to recover.
Koonunga – When questioned regarding the mare racing further back in the field rider S. Clenton advised that her instructions were to be forward but to obtain cover. She said that although the mare jumped well she endeavoured to comply with her instructions and with the early fast tempo Koonunga drifted further back in the field than what she had intended. In her view Koonunga did not handle today’s heavy track conditions.

Ronstar – Shifted out at the start and made contact with Simply Optimistic. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance rider B. McDougall advised that the gelding was caught wide and without cover from the 800m but in his opinion did not handle today’s heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
She Knows – Slow to begin as the start was affected, the near side barrier gate failed to attach to the near side partition and sprung back hampering She Knows.
Heart Conquered – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. When questioned regarding his riding J. Ford stated his intention was to take up a forward position and after commencing well he commenced to follow the leader Noble Joey across with a view to taking up a position to that runner’s outside.
